OUR HISTORY

Birrificio Apuano has been producing Italian craft beer in the center of Massa (Massa Carrara) since 2013 and is open to the public for direct sale.

Marco decides to open his own brewery after years of passion for beer and brewer's mess. The first years represented the growth not only of his brewing recipes but also of the whole world that revolves around them, from the choice of graphics, bottles and equipment, to the selection of quality raw materials.

In 2015 he decided to open a line of gluten-free beers (one of the first breweries to do so). The goal of this line was to create beers that maintained the same quality and goodness as the other beers without compromise ("gluten-free beers but without sacrificing taste"), beers made 100% with barley malt, analyzed and certified " gluten-free "to each batch.

The awards received have confirmed that we have succeeded in this.

2018 is the year of definitive detachment from the past, which determines a corporate change in the company and a rebranding of the brand, which translates into a refresh of the logo and labels, which maintain their classic side (designed by Marco himself) but they are flanked by a more modern line, designed in a dreamlike sci-fi key.

However in some cases, see BorderWine and Prototype, Marco still enjoys leaving his mark on the label, telling his story through graphics.

2019 was a year full of events and awards.

  • 🏅 TDL- BRONZE   at WGFBA 2019   - World Gluten Free Beer Award - Naples

  • 🏅 TDL - BIG BEER in the Slow Food guide "Beers of Italy 2019"

2020 is a difficult year due to the covid-19 situation but always full of satisfactions for the brewery which for the third time has been included in the most prestigious guide of the brewing sector "Slowfood - Guide to Italian Beers 2021" with 2 important awards:

  • 🏅 BORDERWINE - BEER -in SLOW Slow Food Guide "Beers of Italy 2021 '

  •   🏅 GRUNT BEER UNMISSABLE in the Slow Food guide "Birre d'Italia 2021 "

And in November 2020 at the European Beer Star, the most important European brewing competition, BorderWine won the gold medal, ranking first in the fruit beer category, a great way to end the year!
